Sowing and Reaping

ONE WAY OR ANOTHER,
IT IS EITHER OR.
WE ARE SOWING TO THE FLESH OR WE ARE SOWING TO THE SPIRIT.
It is interesting to see an ultimatum has been introduced in Galatians:

"7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life." Gal. 6:7-8

Let me ask a question, of anyone who will consider this subject with me today. The question is, what does it mean to sow?

It is a forever principle set forth by God Himself, Seed-time and Harvest, "As long as the earth remains, Seed Time and Harvest Time."

As I visit this subject, I realize there are different kinds of seed. Sow a thought Reap an action, Sow an action Reap a habit, Sow a habit Reap a character, Sow a character Reap a Destiny.

As I have mentioned often, one of my favorite translations is the J.B. Phillips translation of the New Testament, as you read this portion of Galatians you will get a peek through the window of his incredible insights.

The inevitability of life's harvest!

  • "Don't be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God!
  • A man's harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows.
  • If he sows for his own lower nature his harvest will be the decay and death of his own nature.
  • But if he sows for the Spirit he will reap the harvest of everlasting life by that Spirit.
  • Let us not grow tired of doing good, for, unless we throw in our hand, the ultimate harvest is assured.
  • Let us then do good to all men as opportunity offers, especially to those who belong to the Christian household". Galatians 6:9-10

Have you ever thought about what corruptions really means?

Corruption is any dishonest or fraudulent behavior wherein someone uses their position of power to benefit themselves at the expense of others. The entity can be an individual, corporation, or government. This can come in the form of giving or taking bribes, double-dealing, and defrauding investors among other actions. We have been made aware of what corruption is as we have watched the World News and what has taken place in American politics in the last half century. We can also learn what corruption is as we have watch what has taken place in the religious world of events in the last Forty Years, in what I could call the Elmer Gantry Syndrome.

Dishonest behavior by those who are in positions of power

In the Bible corruption is shown as Spiritual and Moral Decay:

In the Bible "corruption" describes a decline in spiritual and moral character. This can be seen in the effects of sin on humanity, where individuals and societies become increasingly wicked and distant from God.  Spiritual corruption can lead to placing worldly desires and values above spiritual ones, causing a lack of focus on God's will. It can result in a decline in moral integrity and a tendency towards sinful behavior, as one's understanding of right and wrong is clouded. The spiritual corruption can hinder one's ability to communicate with and experience the presence of God.

It can be likened to a "putrid soul" where inner corruption affects one's thoughts, actions, and overall spiritual health.

How can a believer sow to the spirit?

  • Spend time with the word of god, meditate, memorize and make it yours to believe.
  • Become an on-call worshipper and follow the David pattern who said, "I am prayer".
  • Walk it out, walk in love, walk in the spirit. There is one word that defines sowing in the spirit, love. To sow in the spirit is to love your neighbor as yourself. To abide in love is to abide in god.
  • Remember in modern tech language, junk in junk out.

What are you allowing to feed your spirit man? The world has its way, of sowing into us. Don't allow the world to use your ears as garbage cans. Just as the farmer sows seed and the harvest eventually comes to fruition, the seed sown in the parable of the sower inevitably has a harvest.

There was a day when I was being overly concerned about a financial need I had. In the middle of my turmoil, god spoke to me clearly and ask me a question, "what are you worried about, your seed has already been sown."

Your seed may leave your hand, but it never leaves your life!

I believe in you,
