Did you know that the word bridge is not found in the Bible? I am not surprised that it is not found in the Word of God, but you may be. The Bible never mentions physical bridges, but they are referred to metaphorically and in a narrative sense; as in "gaps being bridged," are of rich significance. If you are a student of the Bible, you will understand that this theme has to do with understanding between His people. Christ Himself becomes the ultimate bridge between God and His Creation. Always remember from the beginning of time until now, we can truly say, "A lot of water has run under the bridge."
That is a vast subject for us to bridge in one letter, to say the least. It has to be, that you understand by experience what I am speaking of. We share common experiences as Peter, the apostle of Jesus, would clue us in;

THE GLORY IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER
1 PETER 4:12,13
"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed."
The Old Testament issues are examples for us. In contrast, we are actually being tested as it were, by what Peter calls "fiery ordeals," which are taking place to test us. I think you will agree, Peter has chosen the right metaphor to describe the process. What if God had built a bridge across the Red Sea for the children of Israel to escape Pharaoh and his henchmen? Come to think about it, what if Joshua had built a bridge across the Jordan? It would have been easier for them to cross the Jordan than the Red Sea.

Bridges are an asset in the day of modern travel. The idea of Bridge Builders in China among the Dong people gives you something else to think about. They use no nails and interlock all the wood together. Gary ministered among these people and they came up with this slogan, "The Dong People were Bridge Builder's but Jesus is the Bridge to Heaven for the Dong People."
When I was in high school, some of the students in our class moved a detour sign and as fate would have it, some girls drove down the road and had a terrible wreck, killing one of the girls and severely injuring another. You could be someone's" bridge over troubled water or the pathway to heaven.

Have you allowed yourself to be discipled? Are you being discipled? Jesus said, "Therefore go and make disciples…"
