Wounded for You

Jesus never said, "You hurt my feelings." I guess one could say, “That nails it."

It was foretold Israel would look "on Jesus, the One they have pierced." - Zechariah 12:10
THE WOUNDS UNMISTAKABLY MARK HIM AS THE MESSIAH THEY WOULD BE LOOKING FOR.

Here is what you will find when you search Bible Hub for why are the wounds of Jesus so important:
The wounds of Jesus' reveal and give to us importance His sacrifice and victory. This is why Jesus owned and showed His Scars on Resurrection Morning… "After He had said this, He showed them His hands and side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord." (John 20:20)

Herein, is the evidence and Proof of His Authentic Identity:

  • THIS WAS THE SAME BODY THAT WAS PIERCED STANDING BEFORE THEM AND HE WAS NO IMPOSTOR…  I LOVE THE MOMENT AND YOU WILL TOO.

  • Luke 24:39-40: "Touch Me and see… a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have." THERE IN THE WOUNDS AND SCARS WE SEE THE EVIDENCE OF HIS COMPLETED SACRIFICE

  • Isaiah 53:5: "He was pierced for our transgressions… by His WOUNDS we are healed." HIS SCARS ARE THE CERTIFICATION OF THE DEBT HE PAID;  nothing further must be added.

  • Hebrews 10:19–20: through "THE TORN CURTAIN, (WHICH WAS SPOKEN OF AS HIS BODY), we now enter the Most Holy Place with confidence." Let me remind you of this: 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;Take a closer look with me at the Source of Peace and Forgiveness:

John 20:19 parallels verse 20:  "Jesus greets them, 'Peace be with you,' then He shows the wounds that purchased that peace."

Colossians 1:20: He made peace "by the blood of His cross." Because the Marks remain, our Pardon remains.

  • Triumph Over Death and the Devil - Revelation 5:6: the Lamb stands "as though it had been slain," YET STILL ALIVE, BEARING SLAUGHTER MARKS IN HIS BODY—VICTORIOUS.

  • Colossians 2:13-15: at the cross HE DISARMED THE POWERS OF DEATH HELL AND THE GRAVE, TRIUMPHING OVER THEM…  IT IS THE EMPTY TOMB WE LOOK TO AND THE ENDURING SARS WHICH SEALED THE TRIUMPH.

  • Death’s weapons left their imprint on Him; but He walked out of the grave with those trophies.

  • Invitation to Personal Faith and Ongoing Mission: I remember my Mother sharing this verse in regards to Thomas, how he touched the resurrected Body of Jesus. I remember Harvey Payne sharing this same verse. It meant so much to the both of them. SIN ALWAYS LEAVES A SCAR, EVEN IN THE RESURRECTED BODY OF OUR LORD.

  • Thomas was invited to touch the wounds (John 20:27) — evidence meant to ignite faith.

  • 1 Peter 2:24: "By His stripes you were healed." The healed become heralds: "As the Father has sent Me, I also send you" (John 20:21).

  • Every time we remember His scars at the Lord’s Table (1 Corinthians 11:26), we proclaim both His death and His coming victory.

  • Living Hope Anchored in a Scarred Savior. The wounds remain in His glorified body, reminding us that suffering is never wasted in God’s plan.

  • They guarantee that the worst evil can do has already been overcome, assuring believers of resurrection and final glory (Romans 8:11).

Rejoice with me as you read this knowing:
UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE
WITH A MIGHTY TRIUMPH OVER HIS FOES
HE AROSE THE VICTOR OVER THE DARK DOMAIN AND HE LIVES FOREVER WITH HIS FAMILY TO REIGN.

HE IS ALIVE,

Pastor Cleddie Keith
