Child of the King

I had you on my mind this morning and whispered a prayer for you as the sun came up over the Tri-State. In those quiet moments of the morning a song began to play over and over in my mind and heart. “I’m a child of the king,” and then it expanded to, “We are the child of The King.” Do you remember or have you ever heard, the words of this song?

I’M A CHILD OF THE KING

“Once I was clothed in the rags of my sin Wretched and poor, lost and lonely within;
But with wondrous compassion the King of all kings
In pity and love took me under His wing.
Now I'm a child with a heavenly home
My holy Father has made me his own.
I am cleansed by his blood, and I'm clothed in his love,
And someday I'll sing with the angels above.
Oh yes, oh yes, I'm a child of the King
His royal blood now flows in my veins.
And I who was wretched and poor now can sing
Praise God Praise God I'm a child of the King.”

Don’t you think it is amazing how the words of a song can lift your spirits and brighten your day? I love it when the spirit of worship comes upon me unexpectedly and my mind transcends the moment. I am sure that there are times when we like David of old would say, “Oh! That I had wings like a dove that I could fly away and be at rest”, Psalms 55:6. You know, of course, that you have a love for peace? It is our love for peace that causes us to long for it when we find the world pressing in on us, as David did.

God, however, has done us one better under the New Covenant. First, we have the Prince of Peace living on the inside of us. Second, we have the Holy Spirit residing within and on us. The Dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit from the days of the Ark of the Covenant to the moment the Dove lit on Jesus’ shoulder at the baptism in the Jordan River. David had a dilemma that he felt was too difficult to face. It was the slanderous tongue of men. It is interesting to me that the dove that Noah sent out could not rest until he returned to the ark. Think of it, even the Dove of old found no rest till it returned to her ark, and today, with all that is going on in the world, we can find our rest in Jesus.

I am praying this over the church and my friends today:

  • Holy Spirit, I ask you to fall upon us like you did on Ezekiel - Ezekiel 11:5.
  • I ask you to rest upon us like you did Elisha - 2 Kings 2:9,15.
  • I ask you to clothe us as you did Gideon and Zechariah - Judges 6:34/ 2 Chronicles 24:20.
  • I ask you to move on us like you did Samson - Judges 13:25.
  • Lord, I ask you to give us another spirit like you did for Joseph - Genesis 41: 38-40.
  • May he come upon you today like He came upon King David - 1 Samuel 16:13.

AS A CHILD OF THE KING, YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPECT GOD TO DO IT.

I BELIEVE IN YOU! WE LOVE YOU AND LIVE TO SERVE YOU.!
