This is a great Thanksgiving chapter for us during our holiday weekend.
PSALMS 95:
1, “O come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord; Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
2, Let us come before His presence with a song of thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with songs.
3, For the Lord, is a great God And a great King above all gods,
4, In whose hand are the depths of the earth; The peaks of the mountains are His also.
5, The sea is His, for He made it [by His command]; And His hands formed the dry land.
6, O come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and prayer].
7, For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.”
In the Message translation it reads like this:
95:1,2 “Come, let’s shout praises to God, raise the roof for the Rock who saved us! Let’s march into his presence singing praises, lifting the rafters with our hymns!”
The word for worship in the New Testament is Proskeuneo, it means to prostrate oneself, meaning to present oneself face down before the Holy Living God. Now it is easy for us to understand that means to worship with the body. It gives, “Fall on your knees, Oh! Hear the angels voices”, a more vivid value as we realize it is an act of submission. We are admonished not to harden our hearts like a rebel but to humbly submit to His Lordship. Today would be a wonderful day to set pride aside and in an attitude of worship and appreciation, kneel before our Lord our God and Maker.
Thank you today for choosing to worship with us as we continue to Raise the Roof and Lift the Rafters in Thanksgiving to Almighty God.
I believe in you
