YOU HAVE AN ANSWER

I heard this story years ago and it is just as profound now as it was then. An infidel had finished a lecture when a little old lady asked him a question. Let me share her question with you, “Ten years ago I was becoming a widow with 8 children. I had no provision I was left with nothing but my Bible to give me direction and strength. Sir, my children have been not missed a meal. As you can see, I am moving slowly toward the grave, we are a happy lot and I am looking forward to immortality and heaven with Jesus.”

The infidel started to respond but she cut him off mid-sentence, “I don’t want to disturb your comfort....” “That is not the question, keep to your point. What has your way of thinking done for you?”

The infidel tried to move on to another point but the crowd, responded with a thunderous applause; The old woman had put him in his place, and she won the day and silenced the infidel. How many times have you felt as though you were ill equipped to answer the questions of this frazzled world? Simple questions can stop a naysayer in their tracts but isn’t that what Jesus did? Truth is a great power and you have the experiences of answered prayer to prove this very thing.

These verses are ‘hay maker’ punches to those who champion unbelief:

1 Corinthians chapter 1 verses 18 -21
The Message that points to Christ on the Cross seems like sheer silliness to those hell bent on destruction, but for those on the way of salvation it makes perfect sense. This is the way God works, and most powerfully as it turns out. It’s written,
I’ll turn conventional wisdom on its head, I’ll expose so-called experts as shams.

So where can you find someone truly wise, truly educated, truly intelligent in this day and age? Hasn’t God exposed it all as pretentious nonsense? Since the world in all its fancy wisdom never had a clue when it came to knowing God, God took delight in using what the world considered stupid—preaching, of all things!—to bring those who trust him into the way of salvation.

1 Corinthians 1:18-21
If you keep reading in this chapter, you will find and expose on how God looks at human wisdom:

26-31 Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high- society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own
horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.”

1st Corinthians 1:26-31
You are the only Gospel some people will ever read.
