One Another

ONE ANOTHER

This phrase was chasing me today like the hounds of heaven, so I thought it would be good to sick it on you. Have you ever stopped to think about how important this phrase really is? I have often studied passages that appear more than once in the Word of God, partly out of curiosity and mostly like a rabbit hunter I want to see what's at the end of that trail.

One Another, is far more revealing than a person may think. I find it interesting that at the last days when things come to an end, the Lord speaks about it in the book of Matthew:

Jesus departed from the temple area and was going on His way when His disciples came up to Him to call His attention to the buildings of the temple and point them out to Him.

But He answered them, "Do you see all these? Truly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."

While He was seated on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately and said, "Tell us, when will this take place, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the end (the completion, the consummation) of the age"?

Jesus answered them, "Be careful that no one misleads you [deceiving you and leading you into error]. For many will come in (on the strength of) My name [appropriating the name which belongs to Me], saying, I am the Christ (the Messiah), and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not frightened or troubled, for this must take, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in place after place; all this is but the beginning [the early pains] of the birth pangs [of the intolerable anguish].

Then they will hand you over to suffer affliction and tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. And then many will be offended and repelled and will begin to distrust and desert [Him Whom they ought to trust and obey] and will stumble and fall away and betray ONE ANOTHER and pursue ONE ANOTHER with hatred.

And many false prophets will rise up and deceive and lead many into error. And the love of the great body of people will grow cold because of the multiplied lawlessness and iniquity, but he who endures to the end will be saved.

And this good news of the kingdom (the Gospel) will be preached throughout the whole world as a testimony to all the nations and then will come the end.
Matthew 24:1-14 AMPC

I want you to see that when love grows cold, it is not everybody, but a great many, it affects because of lawlessness and iniquity. Iniquity and Sin often are used to express the term but there are seven different words in the New Testament used for the word sin. Iniquity in Hebrew is "Avon" and means "to bend, twist, distort" so iniquities are bending, twisting, or distorting of the law of God's Word to different degrees worthy of punishment. Iniquity is a violation of the right or duty that mankind is under obligation to do. An iniquity can also be a wicked act and immoral conduct or practice. These are harmful or offensive to society and especially to God. It makes you wonder where Avon beauty products came up with their name.

There were at times, issues among the disciples that had to be worked out such as found in the book of Mark chapter 9:34.

But they kept still, for on the road they had discussed and disputed with ONE ANOTHER as to who was the greatest.

I have always said that UNITY IS BORN OUT OF DIVERSITY. On several occasions we can find the disciples dealing diverse issues and situations.

Mark seems to have an understanding of what it took to become an influencer. Check out what he writes in Mark 9:50:

"Salt is good (beneficial), but if salt has lost its saltness, how will you restore [the saltness to] it? Have salt within yourselves, and be at peace and live in harmony with one another." One grain of salt would not have a great deal of effect on the world around us but when believers are at peace and harmony with one another, then and only then can they become the influencers they need to become on society. The spirit of the those who were into building the Tower of Babel had a oneness in their speech an in their quest to reach heaven by their works. God confused their Language where they could not talk to one another. It is in this story that we see how powerful it can be to work with one another.

Much of what I learned about God I learned in children's church. We would stand before the congregation between, Sunday School and morning worship and sing our choruses. It was there I learned this song:

When we all pull together, together, together
When we all pull together, how happy we'll be.
For your work is my work
and our work is God's work
When we all pull together, how happy we'll be.

It is as though John puts his finger in the pie, as he writes this insightful verse in John 13:34. Jesus is speaking:

"I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another."

In closing, 1 John 4:7 becomes instruction for us all:

"Beloved, let us love ONE ANOTHER, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer knowledge of Him].

I WILL VISIT THIS SUBJECT AGAIN IN OUR NEXT WEEKS LETTER.
