May the Glory of the Lord rise upon you today, and His favor be your daily portion.
Last week I called your attention to Samuel's Mother, Hanna, and how the scripture says, "God visited her." When I speak of visitation, it is not vague or shallow commentary, it is life touching death, the quickening of bareness, it is as though the breath of God has filled the lungs of Adam, the activation of sleeping potential. One of the ways I can describe it is, the dawning of a brand-new day or realized purpose.
Have you ever asked God to put some life UMPTION in your GUMPTION? It is as though the Lord places His dream on the inside of you and you find yourself filled with marching orders from the very throne room of God. It is not just temporary; it is a Divine assignment shut up in your bones.
God gave the darling of His creation, Adam, an assignment. The first few Chapters of Genesis explodes with wonder as he goes about doing what God created him to do. As I read this story over and over, it seems to have a place of instant recall in my mind. I can almost see Eve reaching for the forbidden fruit and both Adam and Eve becoming aware of their nakedness. As a result, they hid themselves behind garden shrubs. Shame has a way of causing us to no longer be transparent. Adam had an earlier encounter when God created Eve, with a rib taken out of his side.
The enemy of your soul also has encounters of a sinister nature, we must keep our guard up and constantly be aware of the price to pay for forbidden fruit. However, God encounters cost Adam dearly as well, just as a God given vision will cost you your pound of flesh. It is failure to obey God's commandments which throw you out of alignment with Him, but obedience will bring us back into harmony with God.
I mentioned last week that Hanna had to come into alignment with God and her husband Elkanah. God had to obtain this alignment for Hanna's prayer to be answered. Samuel was like a vision; long in coming, but demanding attention just as Samuel did, even after he was born. Notice, she gave her Samuel back to God, even though Eli the priest, was a poor representation of God. Visions from God will grow, in that what God asks us to do will grow. Hanna had to continue, year after year, to make new clothes for a growing boy. Samuel was like a vision, an expanding vision. How long has it been since you felt a need to lengthen the ropes of your tent and strengthen your tent stakes? This is a good picture of, "What God asks us to do, never ends with what God asks us to do". God given vision will demand your attention for years to come.
Do you remember last week's teaching, from Luke chapter 7, where I called your attention to the widow's dead son? They were on their way to the cemetery, for burial, when Jesus (God in the flesh) showed up. Let me remind you, in the Bible, dead means dead, period.
"And he that was dead sat up and began to speak."
Have you ever thought about what he might have said? Maybe something like, "Hey guys, what is going on?" or "Where do you think you are taking me?" What would you have said, "Hello everybody, let's party?"
"And He delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear on all; and they glorified God, saying, that a great prophet is risen up among us; and that God has visited His people."
Don't you think it would be ok to say, "the Lord visited His people in a supernatural power, that raised the dead, and manifested His power in meeting their needs, and glorifying God?" Do you believe that God still visits His people? I believe that God hears our prayers, so I pray right now, "Oh God! Rend the heavens and come down…"
Check this out, and as you do, remember that expectation is the threshold to revelation.
"He that has My commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves Me; and he that loves Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him."
Just reading this helps me to remember, I have heaven on the way to heaven today. "This is the day the Lord has made; I will rejoice and be glad in it."
"Keep looking up, God is looking down."
I believe in you,
